This weekend, bake a cheddar bacon broccoli quiche! This easy broccoli cheese quiche recipe combines the savory flavors of cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, and tender broccoli florets nestled in a buttery, flaky crust. Whether you’re planning a leisurely weekend brunch or a light lunch with friends and family, this cheesy bacon broccoli quiche will be a sure hit.

Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Beginner Friendly: This is a great recipe for beginner cooks. Using a pre-made pie crust helps save a few steps while still building confidence in the kitchen.
  • Economical: A single bacon broccoli cheddar quiche is inexpensive to make with common ingredients and can produce up to 6-8 servings! It is a complete meal in itself, combining protein from eggs and cheese, carbohydrates from the crust, and nutrients from the broccoli.
  • Make-ahead Option: Quiche can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator, making it a convenient option for busy weeknights or meal prep. Simply reheat individual slices for a quick and satisfying meal.
  • Crowd Pleaser: Everyone loves a great quiche! It’s the perfect breakfast recipe for entertaining guests at brunches, lunches, or dinners. It is a comfort food that we can’t just get enough of. Making it a great option for pot-lucks and get-togethers.

Equipment

  • Cheese grater
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • 9-inch pie plate: Only needed if you make pie crust from scratch or purchase a pre-made crust that doesn’t come in an aluminum pie pan. Prep the pie plate with cooking spray, so the quiche does not stick to the dish.
  • Plate lined with a paper towel

Ingredients

  • Pie Crust: Use your favorite pre-made pie crust or make a pie crust from scratch. You can also forgo the pie crust all together to make a crustless quiche.
  • Bacon Slices
  • Fresh Broccoli: Use fresh or frozen broccoli. If you use frozen, thaw before cooking to remove as much water as possible before adding to the quiche.
  • Eggs
  • Whipping Cream: The whipping cream helps create a creamy custard. It can be substituted for half-and-half, or a mix of heavy cream and whole milk.
  • Grated Cheddar Cheese: It is best to grate your own cheese for this recipe to ensure the cheese melts and blends well with the other ingredients. You can also substitute the cheddar cheese with mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese or goat cheese if you prefer, or even use a combination of various cheeses.
  • Salt & Pepper

See recipe card for quantities.

Instructions

  • Step 1: Allow the pre-made crust to come to room temperature per the thawing instructions provided on the pie-crust packaging.
  • Step 2: Set the oven to pre-heat at 350° F.
  • Step 3: Prep the pie-crust with vent holes by poking with a fork, set aside or pre-bake if the pie-crust packaging instructions says to do so.
  • Step 4: In a large skillet, cook the bacon. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel lined plate.
  • Step 5: Add the chopped broccoli florets to the same skillet and cook on medium heat until the broccoli starts to soften, for around five minutes.
  • Step 6: In a large bowl, add the whipping cream and eggs. Whisk until well combined.
  • Step 7: Add the cooked bacon and broccoli to the pie crust.
  • Step 8: Pour the egg mixture over the bacon and broccoli. Add the salt and black pepper. Then sprinkle the cheese over the top.
  • Step 9: Use a fork or small spatula to gentle mix the eggs and cheese with the other ingredients.
  • Step 10: Place the quiche in the preheated oven on the middle rack. Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the egg mixture has set.
  • Step 11: Remove the quiche from the oven and allow to cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. The quiche can be served either hot or cold.

Variations

  • Meats: The chopped bacon can easily be substituted for other breakfast meats, such as ground sausage, turkey or ham.
  • Vegetables: Adding vegetables to a quiche is a great way to pack in extra nutrition. The broccoli in this recipe can be reduced to add in other chopped vegetables such as bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach or asparagus.
  • Herbs and Spices: To punch up the flavor, add additional herbs and spices to the egg filling such as garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, parsley, green onion and more.

This bacon broccoli quiche recipe is a great option for special occasions or for a relaxing weekend at home. Here are some of my favorite brunch and breakfast recipes to serve with quiche:

If you happen to have leftovers, the quiche can be covered with plastic wrap once cooled and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat quiche slices in the microwave or in an oven at 350° F for 10 minutes, until heated through.
